Prototypes Making

I chose a few sketches that I have been doing for three weeks and I made prototypes that I am going to present to my group. Almost all of these prototypes have a similar idea but different design.
The first two prototypes are made of paper. I made cuts in the paper to get the shape I need and then lifted these shapes to different heights forming a volume.
The third prototype is made of white cardboard and tissues. I cut the main shape out of cardboard and decided to use a tissue for the roof to create a translucent effect. I also used a napkin for the columns because it is easy to get any shape from it.
The fourth prototype is landslides and a path with arches and art objects from the building to the sea. This idea was on my first sketches. I made the base out of the foam board and then formed landslides with tissues. I also decided to colour this prototype with pastel to make the arches more visible.
The last prototype I made was an idea from my last sketch. I used a foam board for the building, and white cardboard for the side walls and surface. I made the roofs of the building from a translucent sheet. Also in this prototype I showed the underground parts of the building.

● Does it work?

Yes, sometimes it is difficult for me to imagine the details of the building or more complex forms, and the prototype allows me to transfer the idea to 3D and see it from different sides.

● Does it look as you hoped?

In general, yes. Although if I had spent more time to this work, I could get better quality.

● How long did it take? (This should give you an indication of how
long your final design will take and a better idea of what you can
achieve in the timescale)

It did not take long to make prototypes. But it took quite a long time to think about how to start making the prototype correctly to get what I need. I made small prototypes, but when I will make the final model, it will take two or three days. Because it will be bigger and I will focus more on quality.

● What materials/equipment will you need?

Craft knife, Cutting mat, glue and probably mountboard.

● Have you sourced this?

 Not yet.

● What will it cost?

0-5 pounds.

● Which design do you like best?

 I think the last one.

● What would improve it?

A sufficient amount of time

  1. Excellent outcomes for your prototypes, photography is really clear - well done, Elena! Beautifully made and all give you a range of options for your potential design.

BUT! Some of your reflection on what you have done so far needs more detail - you can reflect well, you have approached this project in an intelligent way but this is not evident in your answers. Even though Block One is complete you can still go back and edit all posts from all blocks up to the deadline.
