Development Exercise: Creating Studies

In this post, I added my first two sketches. Although the first one does not look clear, it has my first thoughts about the project. I am doing a project of a Contemporary Art  and Cultural Centre, that should include an exhibition and performance space, a community hub with a cafe, a terrace or a garden and staff offices. The first thing I thought about was what the futures the main spaces should have. I thought that the performance space could be placed without access to natural light because there are often used controlled light sources. For the community hub, it is probably better to make a space with a lot of daylight, plants and beautiful view. I also have two ideas how to make the exhibition space. The first one is a labyrinth. I thought that instead of walls in the building, could be made short partitions in one space and placed art objects between them. So people can walk in one space and explore each object in turn without being distracted by others. I got the second idea  inspired by the image of the spiral from my previous posts and the project of Frank Lloyd (Guggenheim Museum). This idea is a path similar to a corridor where people can walk and look at art objects. I thought it could start from the ground and then it could go up around the main building of the Centre. There are could be made one or two paths and they can lead to the building

I also had an idea of a location for the project. There is a place by the sea near my hometown where landslides often happen because the shore is unsupported there. And I thought about whether it is possible to put the main building at a safe distance from the shore and make the path with art objects from the building to the sea, which will pass through the landslide. This paths can be made open or closed as metal moduls integrated into a structure that supports the shore. It would also be possible to put different plants as a  decor and additional support. I am not sure if this idea is safe and if it is possible to do. I left this idea until I start researches and decided to focus on the main building.
